Cameron Hanes is one of the best bowhunting authors I have ever read. His methods, training, knowledge of backcountry navigation, camping, backpacking, etc. is second to none.
However, this book is out of print now. You can get used copies through Amazon – please click the image of the book below and see what they have available. If they have one at a decent price then snatch it up. You’ll be glad you did!
Here’s some great footage of a elk bowhunt in Colorado. Bow hunting and blackpowder / muzzleloader were allowed – but watch this footage!
You’ve got to be in good shape for the Colorado mountains! If you don’t have horses to pack them out you have to either quarter the animal and pack it out or bone the meat in the field and pack it out. Either way it’s a lot of work at elevation!
